At NYU Langone’s Head and Neck Center, part of NYU Langone’s Perlmutter Cancer Center, our mission is to provide the best available multidisciplinary care for people with tumors of the head and neck or thyroid. We bring together experts in the fields of head and neck surgery, radiation oncology, medical oncology, prosthodontics and dentistry, radiology, pathology, and rehabilitation to provide you with personalized, targeted treatment for benign and malignant tumors.
Our surgeons are experts in head and neck surgery, as well as reconstructive and plastic surgery. This means you receive the best surgical treatment from specialists who also take into account the important roles that function and physical appearance have in preserving your quality of life.
For cancer of the larynx, we are experts in determining whether organ-sparing, voice-preserving treatment that involves surgery, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy is appropriate. We are also experts in using transoral robotic surgery as a treatment for oropharynx cancer, and using endoscopy for skull base tumors.
The Head and Neck Center provides genetic testing of tumors that can help determine which treatment option is best for your specific tumor. Our unsurpassed imaging services include PET/CT and state-of-the-art PET/MRI scans to pinpoint the exact location of the cancer and offer you the most effective, least-invasive treatment options. Our medical staff is leading the way into research of cancer genetics, immunology, and biomolecular markers.
We also offer support during and after treatment. Speech and swallowing rehabilitation, occupational and physical therapy, and other rehabilitation services are available, as well as support groups through Perlmutter Cancer Center.
Care for children with head and neck masses is available at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital.
